Best comfort shows to watch when you need comfort
Sometimes days are tough, and all you want to do is stay in bed or crash on the couch all day watching TV and have a cuppa. I and a lot of others are notorious for watching the same shows we鈥檝e already watched back-to-back, which we should have no shame in. So here's a list of my favourite comfort shows!聽

A three step journey for the hard of hearing
May is a month that鈥檚 full of chronic illness/disability awareness, so it鈥檚 a busy month for me as I鈥檝e collected chronic illnesses like Pok茅mon. It鈥檚 not that I鈥檓 not aware of my own disabilities, but like many others who struggle with their own realities from time to time, it can be hard to allow myself to think about it.

Docuseries reflection: The playbook (Netflix)
My mother, very often fondly recalls how I learned to swim before I learned how to walk. From then it wasn't long until I started formal swimming lessons and began training for competitive swim meets. I swam competitively until Year 7, when I took first place in every single heat, with the exception of the 100-metre butterfly, where I scraped in at third place, taking home the bronze medal for that heat. Over-all, I had the best time, for both the girls鈥 and boys鈥 divisions. Despite all that so-called 鈥榮uccess鈥 and 鈥榓chievement鈥, my heart ached a bit at the sight of that solitary bronze medal. I was training towards an all-gold year. Looking back now, as a mature-aged student and solo parent of a toddler, I realise that the 鈥榣oss鈥 was more valuable than the wins. I was prouder of that bronze medal than I was of all the gold medals that year. I became a better athlete because of the experience of failing and learning from disappointment. The loss, as painful as it was as a 12-year old, helped build character. I learned to accept defeat graciously and how to pick myself up and train better, not harder. It brought our team together too.

Cold weather blues
I hate cold weather. It鈥檚 a bold statement, but it鈥檚 true.
Six types of rest
I鈥檝e just had an incredibly marvellous weekend! One that I鈥檝e been looking forward to for ages and at the same time, I feel completely drained. A friend I spent most of the weekend with, felt the same way. She was exhausted enough to suggest we should cancel lunch and take a bit of time to recharge and maybe take a nap. We were all together several times throughout the weekend anyway. She works interstate and is only here in Adelaide for a visit during her birthday.聽
Checking up on friends
With so much going in the world, I am trying to remember to check up on others and myself.聽
Reconciliation Week 2021
2021 marks twenty years of Reconciliation Australia and the theme聽is 鈥淢ore than a word. Reconciliation takes action,鈥 urging the reconciliation movement towards braver and more impactful action, and more than just raising awareness and knowledge. Reconciliation is about Indigenous and non-indigenous people uniting and being one as a nation and as a people.
A letter to my fellow neurodivergents...
I鈥檓 sorry if you鈥檝e grown up hearing that you鈥檙e not doing your best, that you鈥檙e just not trying hard enough. I鈥檓 sorry if you鈥檝e grown up teaching yourself that you had to push through discomfort only to realise you still can鈥檛 do all those things your peers could. I鈥檓 sorry if you grew up knowing you were so different from everyone around you, yet you weren鈥檛 cared for like you should have been.
