Walking every day
I always used to tease mum and dad for thinking that walking was exercise. In a twist of fate it is now the major source of fitness that I engage in. Every day now, I walk around the park near my house.
Walking isn鈥檛 exactly an extreme sport, but I do think it鈥檚 got some really great benefits. For me, it鈥檚 a chance to clear my head. Just the simple act of low intensity walking distracts my brain a little bit. I can still reflect on things, but the action of putting one foot in front of the other is a focal point. My mind doesn鈥檛 seem to go quite as haywire.
It鈥檚 also really positive to be in nature. To get some sun, to see some trees. To see some people and have dogs run up to say hello. In the modern world, it can be hard not to feel imprisoned in a little box. It鈥檚 not just that we spend so much time in little rooms, it鈥檚 that we have to spend our time in them. Sometimes I end up feeling alone and imprisoned. I鈥檝e found walking really helps with this feeling of claustrophobia.
There鈥檚 a whole world out there, and I can go out and be in it.
