Tuesday: nothing a massage can't fix
How lucky am I to have a sister who’s gifted me with a spa day! I’ve been saving the voucher for one of those days when I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot, but also in serious need of a good recharge to fuel me for even more work. This seemed like a good day for it.
They booked me in for a 90-minute hot stone massage, a facial, and a spa pedicure. Massages and pedicures always do wonders for me in terms of providing some much-needed relaxation and stress detox, but I don’t really get facials very often. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this facial! My face felt so pampered, but more importantly, it felt so clean after. I made a mental note to myself to investigate whether the benefits of having a semi-regular facial would justify the costs.
It turns out that according to dermatologists and other skin experts, all the fancy peels and rubs may not really be effective if all you really want to achieve is clean, healthy skin. Instead, one should be drinking lots of water, getting enough sleep, and maintaining a good facial skin regime of cleansing, toning, exfoliating, and moisturising. Don’t forget to use sunscreen everyday too!
Here are some of the little things I realised on my recent spa day:
- I’m grateful for friends and family who remind me to treat myself from time to time. As a solo parent, a working mother, and a full-time student, I feel like I don’t have the time nor can I afford some ‘me’ time.Ìý
- It’s clear to me now what a difference a little treat and break can be. Those few hours filled my tank back up again and I had much more energy to work again.
- Although self-care can be in the form of retreats or days off, self-care is also the consistent, daily little things I do for myself.
Rest and your energy will be restored.Anonymous
