Adelaide's hidden treasures
If you’re looking for interesting, accessible things to do as the weather warms up in Adelaide, here’s a few ‘hidden treasures’ worth a look:
Temptation Sailing:
- Have you ever thought of how nice it would be to own a yacht? Unrealistic for most of us course, but endlessly appealing, the idea of setting sail on a warm summer night as the sun sets over the horizon has never gone out of style. Well, look no further than Temptation Sailing at Glenelg. You and your friends can book a two-hour cruise along the southern Adelaide coastline for the low price of $29 each. With a bar on board and pretty lax COVID and safety restrictions (!), it’s a great and surprisingly accessible special night out.
Axe Throwing:
- Do you have a lot of pent up rage or anxiety you want to work out? Do you ever feel you could descend into violence at the smallest provocation? If so, never fear, you can work out your aggression by going axe throwing in Thebarton! An hour of axe throwing at MANIAX Axe includes three different sizes of axe and unlimited throws. It might take you a few throws to nail the art of landing the axe blade first into the wooden target, but once you do, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of that thud as you nail the target. It’s not all about strength or power, in fact, rhythm and balance are probably more important (apparently!), but if you have to it’s a safe way to work out that frustration!
Five O’clock Somewhere:
- If you enjoy wine but don’t want to make the trek out to McLaren Vale or the Barossa, try ‘Five o’clock somewhere’, where they bring an established McLaren Vale cellar door to the city. Enjoy a wine tasting and a great atmosphere, sheltered from the elements if it’s a hot day or spill out onto the city streets if a milder summer day, and enjoy some of South Australia’s best produce without having to leave the city!
