Get DIY inspired on Netflix

If you鈥檙e looking for some DIY inspiration these holidays, look no further than Netflix to get your creative juices flowing. I am obsessed with the home renovation and construction shows on Netflix, and they make me want to do all kinds of DIY projects in my own home. If you鈥檙e in need of inspiration and ideas, you鈥檝e come to the right place.

The Great Interior Design Challenge

This show has all the hallmarks of a great British production: period homes, slightly kooky judges, and a handful of 鈥榥aff鈥. Jokes aside, this show gives you lots of ideas for your own home (I will be 鈥渦pcycling鈥 a lamp and decoupaging a jewellery box these holidays). The show sees amateur interior designers compete in challenges where they design and renovate a room each in three days. Any architecture fiends will also enjoy seeing the diversity of English architecture from across the ages. There are two seasons (16 one-hour episodes each season) to enjoy online.

Interior Design Masters

This show again features amateurs who compete in knock-out rounds designing a room each. The show is addictive and shows a good variety of designers from different backgrounds and with different styles. They complete both residential and commercial projects across the eight episodes. The winner receives a design contract for a hotel bar.聽There is currently only one season. Fingers crossed they produce a second next year!

Tidying up with Marie Kondo

Although not a design show,聽Tidying up with Marie Kondo聽will definitely inspire you to declutter and reorganise your home. You will learn the 鈥楰onMari鈥 method of only keeping items that spark joy (I鈥檓 still undecided on this) and her special folding techniques. Hopefully she gives you the encouragement and inspiration you need to do some summer de-cluttering! Probably just what we all need after the mess of Christmas.

Tiny House Nation

This is an aspirational show for me, as I hope to one day build or renovate my own home (maybe even tiny!). I love seeing these structures built from the ground up and seeing how the owners also get involved. The ingenious storage ideas used in these tiny homes might even give you some ideas for your own space. There are two seasons available online (7 episodes each).
