Kickstarting your reading journey
Reading has the ability to expand your knowledge and transport you into another world.
If you don't have any inspiration or are just in need of a break, pick up a book. And whether you enjoy romance, crime, fantasy, or non-fiction, there is always a story for everyone.
Reading is also a very productive way to spend your free time. You can replace those random few minutes of spare time in your day by reading a few pages or a chapter instead. This reduces your screen time with a much more beneficial source of entertainment. Reading has also been proven to improve your English, comprehension, and vocabulary skills; which are all extremely useful for university and your future career. Reading a chapter before you fall asleep is also a great habit to acquire. This allows you to calm down and rest your mind, ready for a good night sleep.
Finding time in my busy schedule to read has been one of my main issues with reading consistently. However, by setting weekly chapter goals for yourself, or designating specific times to read; you can get through any book! Try and read five chapters a week, or read a chapter every night before you sleep. Another suggestion that has helped me read more regularly is starting a book club with friends! Pick a book you are all interested in and designate a time to meet up and discuss each chapter. Comparing your opinions about the characters and plot is so much fun and will improve your motivation to continue reading.
I hope this article has inspired you to start reading. Even if you don't have any books of your own or do not want to spend any money on new books, you can always visit the university's library too. Visit the link below to access the library's website:
