Flipping your way of view
Rainy weather is not that bad since it gives you hope.听 听听
I have hardly experienced cloudy days in Adelaide. After coming to SA, one of the things that I was surprised about was its weather; it rarely rains regardless of the season.
True, it affected my health in positive ways. The serotonin released by exposing myself to the sunshine gave me the space to be happy and enjoy the workload that I had ahead. I think that after moving to Australia, my mental health has been kept quite good thanks to the comfortable weather.
Having been in Adelaide for almost a half year, however, I sometimes miss the drizzling weather that I used to experience every day. I came to think that rainy days are not that bad, as it reminds me of my hometown. I realized that though it could be a bit uncomfortable to walk outside under the rain, the sound of water dripping onto the ground reminds me of my days back home.
This experience reminded me of the lesson from Buddhism called, Issui-Shiken, which tells people to look at the water from four different views. For instance, if you look at the mug cup from the side, it just looks like a square but if you observe it from the top, it looks like shaping a circle.
Likewise, there are a lot of things that change into a completely different form when you shift your perspective. In this case, for instance, I realized that rainy days could give me different experiences that I will never know under sunny days.
I like the feeling of seeing the weather that is about to get sunny. Witnessing lights from the sun shedding to the ground more and more as the clouds fade away, I feel hope. If I had never experienced the rainy days, however, I would have never thought about that way.
So, if you ever have a day when you feel down, I hope that you remember that every single thing around you, even if it looks brutally awful, has positive aspects behind it. It is hard to witness things from various perspectives. Some negative feelings could dominate your mind if you are exhausted with daily words and studies.
