Leveraging resources in the uni

university campus

The university experience is a treasure trove of resources waiting to be discovered.Ìý

As I reflect on my first semester, I've come to realize that the immense value of a degree isn't just in the classes you attend, but in how you harness the resources at your fingertips.ÌýÌý

While the tuition for international students may be steep, the rewards are boundless for those who know how to use the campus facilities effectively. Here are a few things that I enjoyed the most but not a lot of people do during the college life:ÌýÌý

  • Libraries: Having access to enormous amounts of books in the university library is one of the best things that I found on campus. For those who do not have a big book shell at home, the university’s large, curated collections are saviour. The studying room on the 2nd floor has been refreshed recently as well, so now is a good time to visit!Ìý

  • Unregistered classroom: Do not limit yourself to your course. There are numerous captivating classes at the university. Contact the professors beforehand and you'll often find a warm welcome to join in and satisfy your intellectual curiosity!Ìý

  • Office Hours: If you are not satisfied with tutorial classes and want to go beyond the self-study, visit your professor’s office. These one-on-one discussions can be immensely beneficial in clarifying your queries and igniting your enthusiasm toward the subject. Most of the lecturers' availability can be found in MyUni.Ìý

Although I have never used it before, I believe these resources are helpful as well.Ìý

  • Writing Centre: If you ever find yourself stuck with a writing project, the Writing Centre is your go-to resource. Skilled learning advisors are available both in person and online to assist you in crafting your best work.Ìý

  • The Maths Learning Centre (MLC): Regardless of your study, if you have any mathematics questions, you are welcome to join. Seek support, whether in person or online, and sharpen your mathematical prowess.Ìý

Please note that there is no single way to leverage resources in the university. It could be to host the event at the university, join the event in the clubs, or do anything that aligns with your interests.Ìý

By pursuing your goals of studying with these tools, the best friendship follows as well. So, venture forth and explore the wealth of resources available to you. Make your college life an adventure you'll cherish for years to come!Ìý
