Serial concert-goer

Crowd at a concert.

If my bank account could speak, it would say, "²¹²Ô´Ç³Ù³ó±ð°ùÌýconcert"?

Many of my favourite musicians are dead. Many of my favourite brands have broken up. And many of my favourite artists will never, ever, plan on coming to Australia, let alone Adelaide.

But strangely, within the span of one week, I found out that three of my favourite artists were all coming to Australia this year, between October and December. They announced their concert dates, one by one, and it was almost comical how it happened. Three of my favourite artists? All coming here? And, of course, I will need to pay for each one!

Because despite the cost, some financial burdens are worth it, and to me, the experience of seeing a singer or band you love live is one of them. It's allÌýworth it, I told myself as I booked a flight to Melbourne next month.ÌýIt's allÌýworth it,ÌýI told myself as I stressed myself out in the Ticketek lobby for a Paul McCartney ticket, finally understanding the drama of Taylor Swift fans.ÌýIt's allÌýworth it, I told myself as I transferred my savings to my card account, knowing that I would be splurging.Ìý

We all choose to spend our money differently, of course, but I am unfortunately stuck with the notion that if someone is coming here, especially in their older age, I simplyÌý³¾³Ü²õ³ÙÌýpurchase a ticket. And I did.Ìý

So now I have resigned myself to the fact that I will be a serial concert-goer for the rest of this year. I will weave in and out of a hysterical crowd, I will justify the purchase of a $50 merchandise t-shirt, and I will line up in the heat waiting for a good spot for hours.Ìý

Yet, again,Ìýit's allÌýworth it! ÌýNothing makes me feel happier than the rush of seeing a celebrity who you have admired for years and realising that they are real. Nothing boosts my energy so much as dancing and singing to live music. And there is that magical moment every concert where the whole crowd sings one of the artist's most popular songs, together, in a beautiful symphony. Those are the moments that I am chasing when I add yet another concert ticket to my cart.Ìý
