Why the 2000’s generation of Disney Channel is the best
Why is the 2000’s generation of Disney Channel the best ever?Â
The answer? It just is… It’s as simple as that, no questions, no arguments about it. The 2000s generation of Disney Channel series and movies are actually the best and I can’t stress it enough. As a 2000s baby, I am so incredibly grateful that I was lucky enough to grow up with these shows and I think most of you can agree.
In the early 2000s, we were introduced to some of the most iconic shows and characters including Lizzie McGuire (2001-2004), That’s So Raven (2003-2007), Evan Stevens (2000-2003), Phil of the Future (2004-2006), as well as classic cartoons like The Proud Family (2001-2005), Kim Possible (2002-2007), Lilo and Stitch: The Series (2003-2006), Brandy and Mr. Whiskers (2004-2006), all mostly about regular teenage boys and/or girls and their families getting into extreme situations and figuring out their way through it. Let’s also not forget some of the iconic Disney shows from the 90s that aired through to the early 2000s such as Boy Meets World (1993-2000), which developed a sequel called Girl Meets World (2014-2017) in the newer generation of Disney Channel, and the cartoon, Recess (1997-2001).
Then we come to the late 2000s that presented us with the most popular and successful shows and original movies Disney ever made including Hannah Montana (2006-2011), The Suite Life of Zack and Cody (2005-2008), Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-2012), as well as Sonny with a Chance (2009-2011), JONAS (2009-2010), Suite Life on Deck (2008-2011), Cory in the House (2007-2008), and later Good Luck Charlie (2010-2014). Awesome cartoons consist of American Dragon: Jake Long (2005-2007), The Emperor’s New School (2006-2008), The Replacement’s (2006-2009), Phineas and Ferb (2007-2015).
Apart from the Classic Disney movies, the first dating back to 1937 with Snow White, Disney also provided a new insight into the company, young humour, and also further stories and adventures about characters we already love in the cartoons like Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, and Tarzan. Â
This era was also known for its musicals. Musical movies were EVERYTHING. High School Musical (2006, 2007 & 2008), Camp Rock (2008 & 2010), Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009), The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003), The Cheetah Girls (2003, 2006 & 2008), Starstruck (2010), Lemonade Mouth (2011), still possess tracks that a lot of us still love and adore and play to this day for our own reminiscent enjoyment.
Not to say that the new generation of Disney Channel, known as Disney XD, wasn’t that bad, some I actually really enjoyed, but I feel like they weren’t as memorable and didn’t have the same charm and connection they used to have with people.  And yes, some may think that these shows and films are still very cringe, and most of them are let’s be honest. But they were a part of a time when we were young and had little to no worries at all and have affected us today as adults. Seriously, most of the things that I say daily are quotes from these shows, sometimes subconsciously! All of these shows and movies are available to watch on Disney+ if you don’t already have them on DVD (yes… DVD) so if you’re feeling reminiscent or even feel like your busy adult life is consuming you completely, I strongly suggest re-watching these shows to recharge and relive your childhood.
