It is my first Dungeons and Dragons campaign and before playing I really had no idea what it was about. I ignorantly thought it was a bit of a basement game that couldn’t possibly be any fun. However, I’m finding it a game that opens countless possibilities for comedy, laughs and a cracking storyline and character development. With my five friends in the campaign I get to act out every silly movie trope I want or even subvert them. I’m still wrapping my head around the confusing roles, scores and countless situations but it is proving to be a much-welcomed social activity.
To date, I’ve been thrown, stabbed, attacked and have almost died a few times. However, I’ve also had the chance to slap the mayor, kick a reincarnated skeleton in the nether-regions and track down rumours about my missing pumpkin. Somehow these events don’t even feel as crazy as some of the events out in the real world. So, a welcome distraction and a good way I’m finding to keep in touch with friends.
