Combating uncertainty about the future
One step at a time. Sometimes the best thing to do during hard times is just to take the next step – just do the next thing.
Do what needs to be done, one step at a time, little by little. It’s very similar to the production of a doctoral thesis. Creating a document of 80,000 words can seem intimidating but you get there by writing two hours each day. One day at a time.
In the time of coronavirus, with restrictions in place, it is very hard to plan for the future. What’s more, is that self-isolation can take its toll – it’s a change in your lifeÌýthat you didn’t see coming. You’re not certain about when international borders will be open again. You don’t know when you can host a big party at your place. There seem to be so many unknowns that it almost feels paralyzing.
Rest a little. Then do what you need to do, take the next step. It might be doing the dishes or finishing an assignment or going for a walk or calling a friend or learning to do a new thing, like yoga. Just do the next thing. And then rest a little. Then do the next thing again. You won’t see it right away, but all your little steps are getting you to where you need to be.

Just focus on the 24 hours you have in front of you and do what you can to get closer to where you want to be.Anonymous
