Parental leave available
Eligible ³ÉÈË´óƬ staff may make a request for parental leave. Types of parental leave include:
- Paid maternity leave
- Paid adoption leave
- Concurrent partner leave
- Shared paid parental leave
- Unpaid parental leave
Clause 4.5 of the University’s Enterprise Agreement (as amended) which sets out the eligibility criteria for this entitlement.

Pregnancy and parking
As part of its family friendly provisions, the University will make best endeavours to provide temporary reserved parking spaces for women who are 30 weeks into their pregnancy, or have pregnancy complications at any other time in their pregnancy.

Enquiries about pregnancy parking are submitted by email to parking@adelaide.edu.au
The University’s parking service provider manages the process and will provide an application form to be completed by the you and your medical practitioner. When the application is approved, the parking service provider will contact you, and manage the process of identifying a suitable parking space, invoicing and issue of your permit.

Government paid parental leave
The Commonwealth Government’s Paid Parental Leave Scheme provides up to 18 weeks paid parental leave (over one continuous period) at the current federal minimum wage to working parents of children born or adopted on or after 1 January 2011 who meet certain eligibility requirements.
The Department of Human Services determines the eligibility requirements you must meet to receive Parental Leave Pay.
You can lodge an application for Paid Parental Leave with the Department of Human Services up to three months prior to your expected date of birth or adoption of a child. The Department of Human Services is responsible for assessing your application for Paid Parental Leave as well as notifying you if your application is successful.
