English Assist Program launched for commencing international students
Studying in a foreign country is an exciting but often daunting experience.听 Quickly mastering academic language and social engagement skills can go a long way to ensuring international student success and wellbeing.听
The University recognises that English language skill development holds great importance for our international students, both for their academic success and for their employability and employment success as graduates. To assist in developing these skills the Student Retention and Success team听have launched the English Assist Program for our commencing international students.
The English Assist Program offers two streams of support. One provides opportunities to develop students speaking and listening skills and focuses on conversation skills for university study and social engagement. The other develops their skills in reading and writing in English for academic study. The program has a range of activities, including self-paced lectures and modules, and weekly small group face to face workshops run by specialist language tutors from the English Language Centre.
The Program was launched in the latter stages of Semester 1 for all international students in their first semester of study.
