KEYNOTE

Inclusive and equitable learning and teaching in the age of AI
Associate Professor Jason Lodge, The University of Queensland

As AI technologies continue to evolve, the implications for higher education are increasingly coming into focus. Generative AI, in particular, is a different technology from those that previously impacted education. As such, ensuring the inclusive and equitable use of these evolving technologies is complex. Traditional digital divides are being potentially exacerbated, and new divides are emerging. In this keynote, we will explore the evolving implications of AI for learning and teaching across increasingly diverse cohorts of students and consider ways to best support student success in the age of AI. While some emphasis on technical capabilities is needed, fundamental skills such as critical thinking, the ability to manage uncertainty, and self-regulated learning are now more important than ever.
