Learning and Teaching News - Associate Professor Graham Hardy
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first two months as Director, Education Quality within the Division of Academic and Student Engagement (DASE). I’ve been particularly impressed by colleagues determination to do things well, in addition to their very positive solutions’ focused intent, and genuine care for the student experience. Â
This month’s Learning and Teaching News contains some fine examples of imaginative and impactful approaches to learning and teaching, through a skillful blend of traditional and contemporary approaches. I hope you are able take something useful away from your colleagues’ experiences and reflections. It is heartening to see so much innovation and quality education going on across the institution despite the challenges we have all faced, and will continue to face, in the short and medium term.
I am particularly looking forward to our Festival of Learning and Teaching, scheduled for the 14 July, and hope colleagues from across the University will support this inspiring and enjoyable event. This year’s festival theme is Relationship Rich Education with the event designed to be as inclusive and relevant as possible to staff working within a wide range of disciplines and roles across the University.
We will also be returning to the traditional one day, face-to-face format which has been so popular. It will provide a wonderful opportunity for you to reconnect and share experiences with fellow educators and those involved in learning and teaching. More information regarding the program’s content will be available on our website soon however, in the meantime please save the date.
I have also been privileged to attend some of the recent graduation ceremonies. It is truly inspiring to share in the work, commitment and achievement of all involved in the journey and success of our students. It was a joy to share those events not only with our students, but also with their families and friends, and other members of staff.  It certainly helps us remember why we are here.Â
Over the coming months I hope to get to know even more of you as we build upon our goal of providing a world class education experience to our students. My door is always open to good conversation, so please feel free to contact me at any time about education quality matters, or any other learning and teaching matters, viaÌý±ð³¾²¹¾±±ô.
All the best for the rest of the semester and beyond.
