ACEN Critical Conversations provides a platform for discussion around current issues facing WIL practitioners. Driven by the ACEN Professional Development and Resources committee, this virtual session involves facilitated online conversations in discipline groups. We invite you to speak up, share your thoughts on what matters to you most and offer strategies to encourage one another in our WIL community.
Cross-disciplinary WIL: Enabling connections and collaborations across the disciplines to address real industry challenges
The benefits of WIL for student employability are widely accepted and most institutions include WIL in strategic university priorities and goals. However, innovation is also required to address challenges around scaling WIL and enabling access to all students. Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary WIL programs that involve collaboration between students from different disciplines offer potential solutions to issues of scalability and accessibility. There are also a range of benefits for industry and students when diverse disciplines collaborate to solve complex problems. In this ACEN Critical Conversations, we hear from a transdisciplinary program at UTS that is having great success and invite you to consider the role of inter- and transdisciplinary WIL in your context.
