Event: Why do we need a new history of South Australia?
The first Friends of the Library event for the year is being held on Thursday 4 April at the Barr Smith Library.
Associate Professors in the School of Humanities, Department of History, Paul Sendziuk and Robert Foster, will speak on their book,Ìý This is the first comprehensive single-volume history of our State published in over fifty years.
The authors will speak to the need for a fresh understanding and examination of South Australia’s complex past - including conditions prior to European exploration, the imprint of people on the land – and vice versa, the ‘free’ state settlement, relations between Indigenous people and colonisers, the establishment of the State’s distinctive socio-political structures, and relationships with the rest of Australia and the world.Ìý
