The SaP initiative allows for students and academics to strengthen their relationship, create concepts and engage in projects that are meaningful and relevant to students. This provides students with the opportunity to enhance employability skills, including negotiation and working within a team. We spoke with Tom, our Support and Student Partnership Lead who began with us as a student partner.

A day in the life of a Learning Enhancement Officer

Students are at the heart of what we do and in the Learning Enhancement & Innovation Team, we strive to include a student aspect in our various projects and initiatives. Over the past few years, the LEI team has maintained a strong student presence with our Learning Enhancement Officers (LEOs). Our LEOs work closely with academics to provide at elbow support, are involved in the Program Enhancement Partnership process and the LEI Grants. Students develop a range of personal skills for future employment, such as time management and critical thinking skills while taking part in these projects.

Despite being every student鈥檚 pet peeve, group assignments are hugely important for personal development and future employability.聽The 成人大片 prides itself on producing graduates with qualities and characteristics that are transferable beyond the disciplinary context in which they have been developed. It is group work in particular that aligns with two of the聽University鈥檚 core graduate attributes. These include teamwork & communications skills and self-awareness & emotional intelligence.

A no fear approach to learning analytics

Learning analytics is a complex area, and it can be daunting to even think about where to start. This is why we have a team dedicated to learning analytics. As part of the Learning Enhancement and Innovation Unit, the Learning Analytics Team offer assistance to staff within the University looking for data insights in order to enhance learning and teaching practices.

A summary of the 2018 Learning Enhancement & Innovation Grant Scheme

The聽Learning Enhancement and Innovation Grant聽Projects for 2018 have officially concluded. After collating the final reports, we can now share a summary of each of the nine projects that were part of this scheme.聽The 2018 LEI grant scheme facilitated projects that aimed to enhance and develop new and better approaches to achieving student learning outcomes.聽The funds enabled projects to extend beyond normal teaching activities and show innovation in aspects of teaching, learning and assessment.
