2019 Rhodes Scholar

Congratulations to Media and Arts graduate Isobel Phoebe Montgomery who has been awarded a prestigious 2019 Rhodes Scholarship.

With an outstanding academic record at the ³ÉÈË´óƬ, Isobel Phoebe has received one of only three Australia-at-Large Rhodes Scholarships offered each year to study at Oxford University.

Isobel Phoebe will travel to the United Kingdom next year and read an MPhil in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation at Oxford University with the hope of researching the current effectiveness of current domestic and family violence approaches in SA, to ultimately inform policy that supports early intervention, and lead to sustained action against gender-based violence in Australia. 2019 Commonwealth Bank of Australia John Monash Scholar

Image on rightCongratulations to 2019 Commonwealth Bank of Australia John Monash Scholar Alexander Makarowsky.

Alexander has a Bachelor of Telecommunications Engineering (Honours) from the ³ÉÈË´óƬ, where he studied as a Charles Hawker Memorial Scholar. With his John Monash Scholarship, he will undertake an MPhil in Energy Technologies at the University of Cambridge and plans to return to the Australian energy sector. Volunteering in Timor-Leste instilled Alexander with a strong desire to support the sustainable development of Australia’s neighbours and to lead the world in addressing shared challenges, such as climate change. Alexander aims to help create the next generation of reliable, inexpensive and low-emissions energy systems and to further the use of scientific modelling in public policy.

APR Internship Opportunities

APR Internships provide an invaluable opportunity for research students to utilise their technical skills and knowledge to help industry address challenges they face. APR.Intern has announced the following new internship opportunities:

Legatus Group is offering a 3-month internship opportunity in Clare, SA.

Project title: Legatus Group Regional Community Wastewater Management Scheme (CWMS) Survey and Sludge Processing Plant Viability Investigation

Juke Services is offering a 3-month internship opportunity in Adelaide, SA.

Project title: A Formulaic Approach to the Use of Derivatives in Financial Markets

This internship will focus on researching and devising an analytical approach that permits a strategy of buying or selling call and put options in such a way that, using their unique asymmetric risk/reward profile, will over time generate a certain or near-certain profit. Invitation to Participate in a Library Research User Study

Have you ever used library systems to search for and access sources? If so, we would like to talk to you about this and will give you a prize for your time, if you are selected to participate in our study.

is a global library that supports thousands of libraries by providing shared technology services, original research and community programs. OCLC Research, OCLC Research Library Partnership and The ³ÉÈË´óƬ Library are working together on a study to investigate how post-graduate students and faculty staff get access to resources and why they choose particular types of access (i.e., ILL; requesting library purchases; purchasing from Dymocks, Barnes & Noble, etc.; borrowing from the library or a friend or a colleague, etc.).

If you are interested in participating in this study, you will need to complete a brief online screening survey and provide your email address, which should take about 10 minutes. We will use this to determine if you fit the study profile. If you are chosen to participate in the study, you will need to give your consent by signing a consent form. Please understand that you will not be compensated for completing the screening survey. You only will receive compensation if you are chosen and participate in an interview.

Interviews will be conducted and recorded, lasting approximately 45 minutes. Your identity will be kept confidential. Your email address and any other identifying information will not be connected to your interview responses. Furthermore, you may withdraw your consent at any time to terminate your participation. For your participation and completion of the interview, you will receive a gift voucher.
