Today’s release of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2020 has seen the ³ÉÈË´óƬ rise once again, now ranked 120th in the world – and 7th in Australia.

Professor Chen is CI on successful funding bid

The Australian Government today announced $3.7 million funding for the new Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Integrated Operations for Complex Resources.

Funded with another $2 million plus $6.8 million in-kind support from research and industry organisations, the $12.5 million centre will deliver enabling tools and train the next generation of scientists and engineers in advanced sensors, data analytics and artificial intelligence to increase value in mining and processing of complex resources.

Congrats to Google PhD Fellowship Awardee

Congratulations to Zhi Tian, supervised by Professor Chunhua Shen, who has been awarded a Google PhD Fellowship for 2019/20. This prestigious award is given for outstanding work during the PhD and supplements the student's scholarship as well as providing research mentoring from within Google.

Best Paper Finalist at CVPR 2019 Workshop

AIML team predicts mineral deposits using AI

A team from the ³ÉÈË´óƬ’s Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) has come second in the OZ Minerals Explorer Challenge. The DeepSightX team’s analysis of mineral data from the Mount Woods project area predicts where new deposits of elements and minerals could lie.
