Academic Program: Master of International Management

My overall mentee experience was extremely insightful. My mentor is an incredibly experienced woman who being an alumnus could understand my situation. Through this program, I felt supported and confident in taking the future steps in my career. I have emerged as a more motivated person and I am more confident in applying for jobs. I have seen an improvement in my employability skills and my ability to be able to communicate and network more professionally.

During the process of being a mentee in this program, I have improved my active listening skills and interpersonal and communication skills. My mentor made me realise that I need to set my future goals in line with my values and priorities. I have become even more confident in understanding and setting career goals for myself and have improved on my commercial awareness. Being a mentee, I learnt to ask the right questions to get the right answers and I have learned how to be able to understand my personal brand and sell myself to future employers and networks

The mentoring experience has inspired my future goals. Earlier I was unsure of overcoming the challenges and obstacles that I faced being an international student. Through the support of my mentor, I have become more motivated to apply for jobs and work on my competitive edge. Through my mentor's experience, I got a taste of the industry and understood certain do鈥檚 and don鈥檛s. I have become more commercially aware and I make sure I update myself with the industry news. I understand my SMART goal setting for the next 5, 10 years and what my expectations are.

I would definitely recommend this program to other international students. It is very important to have career mentors to guide one through the process of job application and professional development. I am extremely grateful for this program and the benefits are invaluable. The insights generated from the meetings go a very long way in shaping one鈥檚 goals and perspective. As an international student, there is always an inhibition to work and network in a foreign country. By connecting with an international alumnus, the process becomes less daunting.
