From my internship experience as a Project Administration Assistant at Career Services, I was fortunate enough to be a part of the International Project Team and received first-hand information about the recruitment procedures and job markets in Australia and China. During these three months, I have also learnt useful knowledge of how an international project or event can be operated from planning to completion and what should be considered in each stage. I was inspired by connecting with industry professionals from various backgrounds, which enabled me to better understand what types of roles are more suitable for me and what career directions I should pursue in the future. China Career Ready Plus (CCRP) program is such an excellent project for preparing international students to become career-ready. The team members are always friendly, polite and professional. I am so grateful to be given the opportunity of an听internship at Career Services because it helped me to hone my professional skills and get a better understanding of workforce culture in Australia. Master of Accounting and Finance

In July-November of 2020, I worked as an intern with the international project team听at Career Services. Due to Covid, the internship was in a hybrid working pattern: onsite in the office and working from home, which might be听different from what other students have experienced. When working from home, I needed to partake in Zoom meetings and worked independently with minimal supervision. I have become more independent at work and developed skills that听will be appealing to future employers like multitasking, managing my own time and schedule, and using various听online tools for virtual meetings and team communications. From the very first day, I was given interesting tasks and comprehensive training across the whole internship.听I sorted data from feedback forms using PivotTable, assisted with event management from planning, organising to reporting, managed client database and advertised employment opportunities to current students and recent grads. I would like to express my enormous gratitude to the team with whom I got to work closely 鈥 Tony, Julia and Joanne. This team has a high level of professionalism and is dedicated to helping UofA international students' employability.听I would consider the team as a gathering of friends with whom you can talk about different things during break and after work. I am very glad for the opportunity to be part of such a team!

Master of Arts (Interpreting, Translation and Transcultural Communication)

This brief yet challenging internship at Career Services has been a rewarding experience. The friendly work environment quickly eases your nerves as you embark on the exciting journey, which also serves as a training ground for aspiring future translators and interpreters. Initially, you can feel the tension when you find yourself translating or interpreting in real life rather than practicing in a 鈥渃anned鈥 classroom simulation. Some of the scenarios will teach you how to prepare for the unexpected so that you do not have to learn it the hard way later in your career. But once you get the hang of it, things stop being intimidating, and you realize that you are a tad better than your old self. And of course, the experience does not end here. Apart from juggling languages, I also get to learn to tame spreadsheets and reach out to students who are eager to enter the workforce. On top of that, expect to be part of some edutaining activities and mingle with interesting people in and out of the university.
