ABS - Confidentialised Unit Record Files (CURFS)

The University has an agreement with the ABS to provide public use of Confidentialised Unit Record Files (CURFs) for research purposes. CURFs contain unidentifiable data from ABS surveys in the form of a unit record. Access to CURFs is available through the Remote Access Data Laboratory (RADL), where the CURFs are available via a secure internet-based data query service.

Request access to CURF data

Visit the ABS聽聽for an overview of Microdata information & services.

  1. Visit the聽聽website to apply for CURF access.
  2. Complete and sign a Request for Access to a CURF.

Requests will be forwarded and approved by the Office of the DVC&VP(R): dvcrexecofficer@adelaide.edu.au.

Australian Institute of Health and Welfare Health Data Hub

The (NHDH) is a major national health data linkage system for health research and analysis.

The NHDH comprises de-identified and enduring health data from state and territory, and Commonwealth data sources. It brings together data on admitted patient care services (in public and private hospitals), emergency department services and outpatient services in public hospitals for all states and territories with the exception of Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

The NHDH also includes Commonwealth data from the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), Repatriation Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (RPBS), Aged care services data, National Death Index (NDI) and the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) data.

Researchers whose project falls under must complete a project proposal form that can be found online.听 There is a schedule of fees for establishment, access and linkage, and approved projects will access the NHDH data via an AIHW managed instance of the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Secure Environment for Analysing Data (SEAD).

Dataplace

The University is an accredited user of , a platform where Australian researchers and others can request access to Australian Government data. This includes open and restricted data, and data listed in the . As an accredited user, 成人大片 researchers can use the DATA Scheme to access data under the . This scheme makes Australian Government data available in appropriate circumstances that may have previously been prevented by other legislation.

Researchers can collaborate with data custodians in Dataplace to request data, negotiate access, and confirm a Data Sharing Agreement (DSA). In all cases DSAs will need to be finalised by the University鈥檚 Approving Officer, and our Authorised Officer under the DATA Scheme.

The Data Catalogue is updated quarterly, with the Office for the National Data Commissioner working with government agencies to describe more Australian Government data assets that can be found, requested, linked and accessed through Dataplace.

Researchers can login to Dataplace using their institutional sign on and initiate a data sharing request. Note that custodians may charge for access to some data on a cost recovery basis, and in some cases researchers will need to access data through an Accredited Data Services Provider, which will incur a fee.
