Other Funding
Major initiatives
Major initiatives are major research funding opportunities, and other large-scale industry and government research related initiatives. These opportunities are typically high value, strategically important, collaborative, multi-disciplinary and/or have complex funding requirements, and are coordinated and submitted through Research Services. Examples of major initiatives are provided below.
Cooperative Research Centres
(CRC) support medium to long-term industry-led collaborations between industry, researchers and the community with up to 10 years of funding to develop important new technologies, products and services.
Cooperative Research Centres - Projects
(CRC-Ps) support short term industry-led collaborations to develop important new technologies, products, and services, that deliver tangible outcomes.
National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy
The (NCRIS) framework supports high quality research that will drive greater innovation in the Australian research sector and the economy. NCRIS funding enables Australian researchers to address key national and global challenges and supports collaboration between researchers and other research end users.
Primary industries and RDCs
Australia鈥檚 15 deliver benefit to industry and regional communities by helping to drive agricultural innovation. The RDCs provide opportunities for Australian government and primary producers to co-invest in research and development (R&D) to deliver nationally coordinated, strategic research, development and extension with real outcomes for Australian producers. The RDCs span agricultural industries including cotton, grains, meat, wool, fish, wine, eggs, sugar, pork and horticulture.
A number of smaller funding opportunities that suit nature conservation projects with small budgets, including student projects, are also available.
International grants
The University commits to team up with the world鈥檚 best minds to produce excellent science and tackle global challenges. We encourage our researchers to participate in a wide range of international research collaborations to contribute to the implementation of these commitments.
Research Services is responsible for submissions of competitive research grants to International funding sponsors on behalf of the University.
