About Us
SACES operates with a core in-house research team supplemented by academic experts from across the University according to project needs. SACES is frequently involved in, and often leads, collaborations with other disciplines such as sociology, law, psychology, environmental science and engineering.
SACES staff have a range of research skills which they use in the analysis of complex economic, social and public policy issues. These skills are both generalist and technical in nature. Generalist skills include project management, writing to a target audience, graphical presentation, liaison and consultation skills, face-to-face presentation, and the preparation of proposals and research planning. Staff technical skills include both conceptual and data skills. These conceptual skills include the application of economic principles and concepts to policy design and evaluation, the conduct of benefit cost analyses including non-market valuations, and the conduct of computable general equilibrium modelling. Data skills include econometric analysis, data validation and cleaning, survey design and data collection.
SACES also draws on the resources and infrastructure of the University including human research ethics clearance processes, library and IT resources, finance, human resources, etc.
