Expertise

Dr Feng鈥檚 research is focused on developing coupled human and natural system models to gain a better understanding of various resources and environmental management issues, such as carbon emissions, water, land, and air pollution, in the context of globalization and socio-economic development. A key innovation of his work is the modeling framework that tracks the tele-connected environmental and social consequences of human decisions across scales from local to global.

Dr Feng鈥檚 research also addresses many urgent environmental policy issues, including distributional effects of environmental policies across regions and income groups, carbon tax revenue redistribution to protect poor, social and environmental inequality, the Paris Agreement, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Collaborative research聽

Australian regions have the highest solar energy installation rate on average in the world, however, with significant regional disparities. The variations of solar photovoltaic (PV) penetration rate in different postcode areas could be from 5% to 70% on the dwellings, leading to substantial inequality in renewable energy adaptation and consumption. This collaborative research project will delve into the installation data for small and medium-sized solar PV devices across 2,413 Australian postcode areas and evaluate four primary factors that influence the residential solar energy installation rate in regions, for example, natural factors, energy policy factors, rooftop space factors, and socioeconomic factors.
