HiTeMP-2
The second international forum on Zero Carbon High Temperature Minerals Processing (HiTeMP-2) was held 16-18 March 2020, online and at the National Wine Centre in South Australia.
The HiTeMP-2 Forum brought together global leaders from industry, research, investors, non-government agencies and policy makers to chart the pathway to transition heavy industry towards net-zero-CO2听emissions, addressing the need for heat, chemicals and electricity. Leading mineral processing and refining companies across the world have already started to decarbonise in response to emerging markets for low carbon products.听HiTeMP-2 attracted 169 delegates from 15 countries, of which 64% participated on-line due to the travel restrictions imposed by the outbreak of the coronavirus. Of these, some 39% were from industry, 43% from research,14% from government agencies and 4% from non-government organisations.听

Specific objectives of HiTeMP-2
i. Changes since HiTeMP-1:听What changes have emerged since HiTeMP1 that influence the pathway to CO2听mitigation in this sector?
ii. Current barriers:听What are the biggest barriers to CO2听mitigation in each sector?
iii. Opportunities:听What opportunities are emerging for this sector with potential to overcome these barriers?
iv. Commercial Readiness:听What is the status of commercial readiness at the scale of industrial processes, for the viable supply and utilisation of low net-carbon energy sources?
v. Pathways:听Revise the anticipated best-practice pathway to CO2听mitigation at time-lines of:
- 5 years,
- 10 years, and
- 20 years
