OAGR - Online Ancient Genome Repository

The Major Open Data collection project at the 成人大片, is a collaboration between ACAD and听University Libraries听to make ancient genomics and microbiome data freely available to other researchers around the world.

OAGR听includes bioinformatics pipelines and meta data in an organised and searchable fashion to enable multidisciplinary access and reuse. Launched in June, 2015 it houses 213 files derived from 125 individual source records.听

  • OAGR is built on the MyTardis research data management, funded by Australian National Data Service听().

  • ANDS is supported by the Australian Government through the听National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy听program ().

  • Data published in OAGR is licensed under听.

By combining genomic variant analysis with microbiome data obtained from sequencing ancient dental calculus, the database will enable the broader research community to address key genetic and microbial changes over human evolution, and the potential relationships to modern health - such as the endemic modern 'western' diseases.

Digital object identifies (DOIs) are minted to facilitate persistent identification and citation. Data presented in the听publication, Haak听et al. (2015)听,听Nature听can be found in OAGR.

Partnerships

In addition to ACAD-generated data, OAGR currently has data from:

  • Professor David Reich, Department of Genetics, Harvard Medical School, USA
  • Dr Richard Durbin and Dr Stephan Schiffles, computational genomics, Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (embargoed), UK
  • Carles Lalueza-Fox, Institute for Evolutionary Biology (CSIF-UPF), Spain
  • Future partners will be announced as their data is loaded
