Activities

Guided walks

Groups of 10 or more can book guided walks of the Reserve by contacting the Manager Dr. Kate Delaporte.

Note: If the forecast temperature for the day is 35掳C or above or if a Total Fire Ban for Mt. Lofty Ranges is declared the tours of the Waite Conservation Reserve are cancelled. Please, check the Bureau of Meteorology website ().

Working bees

Working bees are your chance to get to know the reserve better. We invite you to come and help us protect and reinstate the original vegetation by joining the Friends of the Waite Conservation Reserve which allows you to participate in our Working Bees. Details on the next working bee can be found on our What's ON page.

If you wish to offer further help please see our Volunteer's page.

Fauna surveys

Friends of the Waite Conservation Reserve participated in the Great Australian Marsupial Night Stalk National Science Week 2001. On this evening, only ring-tail and brush-tail possums and a feral cat were spotted, but participants enjoyed the magnificent views of the city's sparkling lights. Another night walk was held for Friends in 2006. Many ring-tail possums with young were spotted, as well as a barking gecko and spiders out hunting. More mammal surveys are planned and the Manager would like to hear from anyone interested in participating. An extensive 10-day survey of mammals, reptiles and birds was conducted in November 2008.

Talks

From time to time we host talks at the Waite Conservation Reserve and Historic Precinct.
