Student Loan Scheme

Interest-free student loans are available to help 成人大片 students with living and study costs during their time at the University.

  • What is a student loan?

    A student loan is a form of financial assistance offered by the University to help you with living and study costs during your academic journey.

    Domestic students can apply for loans up to $2000. Domestic student loan requests over $750 require a guarantor. The maximum amount that will be approved to a domestic student applying for a loan in their first Teaching Period at the University will be $750.

    A student loan is approved based on the conditions stated in the Student Loan Policy.

  • Do I need a guarantor?

    For loans over $750, a guarantor statutory declaration form must also be completed.

  • What can loans be granted for?

    Loans may be given for:

    1. Basic living expenses, including support of dependants, where the loan is needed to deal with short-term or seasonal shortfall between income and expenditure;
    2. Educational expenses such as textbooks, equipment considered necessary for studies, field excursions and placements;
    3. Bond money and expenses associated with moving into non-University-managed accommodation;
    4. Health expenses of the student, their dependants or family members.
  • Can I apply for a student loan?

    You can apply if...

    1. You are enrolled in a degree program at the University.
    2. You are 18 years of age or older when I apply.
    3. Your studies are being affected or are about to be affected by your financial situation.
    4. Your academic grades show that you have a good chance of finishing your degree.
    5. You can repay the loan before you finish your degree.
  • What is the application process?

    Book in an appointment with an Education Welfare Officer (EWO).

    Please phone 8313 5430 or email studentcare@adelaide.edu.au to make your appointment and include the following:

    • Your full name and Student ID.
    • A contact phone number.
    • Preferred day and time for an appointment.
    • Brief outline of the issue you are seeking assistance with (i.e., student loan application).

    Complete the Student Loan Application form - you only need to fill in the first page.

    Read the instructions on the form carefully. If you are unsure about how to fill in any part, hover over the form fields for helpful tips.

    Step 3

    Make sure to attend the meeting with an Education Welfare Officer (EWO) at the scheduled time.

  • When do I get the student loan payment in my bank account?

    Approved loans are paid into a student's bank account 5-9 working days after a successful application.

    Students receive only one copy of the invoice on the Monday after the funds have been transferred.

    The copy of the invoice contains the loan terms agreed at the time of application and the repayment instructions.

    Students must reference their invoice number when making their repayment.

    Step 1

    Book in an in-person appointment with an International Student Advisor (ISA) at Level 6, Hughes building (North Terrace campus).

    When booking an appointment, select 'Student Loan application' as what you would like to discuss with an advisor.

    Complete the Student Loan Application form - you only need to fill in the first page.

    Read the instructions on the form carefully. If you are unsure about how to fill in any part, hover over the form fields for helpful tips.

    Step 3

    Make sure to attend the meeting with an International Student Advisor at the scheduled time. Please bring supporting documentation that may include (but is not limited to) bank statements, pay slips, invoices, quotes or bills. Please note that you will need to bring at least three months worth of bank statements.
