Joanne Wallis is Professor of International Security in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the 成人大片.
Joanne鈥檚 research analyses security, peacebuilding, and Australia鈥檚 strategy in the Pacific Islands and broader Indo-Pacific.
Joanne is currently leading an Australian Research Council Discovery Project that analyses how the Australia-New Zealand alliance operates and why it endures using an in-depth analysis of the alliance in the Pacific Islands, the region in which it has primarily played out. She is leading a second Discovery Project that analyses Australian peacebuilding interventions in the Pacific Islands.
She is also leading an Australian Department of Defence Strategic Policy Grant project analysing whether the Australian, United States, New Zealand, and Japanese alliances and partnerships could form the basis of a networked security architecture in the Pacific Islands. 聽
Recent academic and policy publications include commissioned strategic analyses of the Pacific Islands region for international think tanks, policy papers mapping security cooperation in the Pacific Islands and considering the implications of climate change for maritime boundaries in the Pacific Islands, and journal articles analysing Australia鈥檚 policy in the Pacific Islands and the role of international interveners during peacebuilding.
