As the ³ÉÈË´óƬ celebrates its 150th year, a new tradition emerges: Kaurna Day - Tirkanthi - Ngutu - Taikurrinthi (Learning – Knowledge - Be united together), a free public event dedicated to honouring the Kaurna people, the traditional custodians of Adelaide and the Adelaide plains.

Study reveals Indigenous Australians at higher risk of HPV throat cancers
Researchers from the ³ÉÈË´óƬ have found that throat cancers caused by human papilloma virus (HPV), a common sexually transmitted disease, are 15 times more prevalent in Indigenous Australians than young non-Indigenous Australians, and five times the prevalence reported in a systematic review involving the US, Brazil, Mexico and Finland.

Portrait honours Aboriginal leader
As part of National Reconciliation Week, a new portrait has been unveiled in the Barr Smith Library of Uncle Rodney (Rod) O’Brien, respected Kaurna Elder and Cultural Advisor at the ³ÉÈË´óƬ.
Honorary doctorate to be awarded to Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue
The ³ÉÈË´óƬ will award an honorary doctorate to one of Australia’s most highly respected Aboriginal leaders, Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue AC CBE DSG.
