E G Stephens Bequest
Eric Goyne Stephens made many generous gifts to the Roseworthy Agricultural College, (which in the 1990鈥檚 became the Roseworthy Campus of the 成人大片) in memory of his brother, Cyril Forster Stephens.
Cyril was a student at Roseworthy Agricultural College from 1911-1913 and won a gold medal in 1913.听 He commenced a Bachelor of Science degree in 1914 and was a recipient of the Ridley Memorial Scholarship in 1914-1915.听 Cyril was killed in action in France during World War 1 in 1918.
Eric donated $2,500 to Roseworthy College in April 1975, $2,500 in July 1975 and $6,000 in February 1976. These donations were regarded as absolute gifts to the College as a memorial to his brother. The funds were to be used for library materials in whatever way the College thinks fit and thus creating a memorial library known as the C F Stephens and E G Stephens Memorial Library. In addition, a suitable plaque was installed in the College Library to commemorate the gifts.
In 1987, Eric bequeathed in his Will to the College a legacy of $100,000 to be applied for and towards the Stephens Family Reference Library.
Today, the annual income from the invested sum is used for electronic resources for the Roseworthy Campus Library which supports the research and teaching of the Faculty of Sciences.
