IPAS Fiber-Fabry-Perot featured in IEEE Photonics Technology Letters

Quantum optics experiments frequently require the separation of weak quantum signals from strong classical fields, where it is necessary to exploit the minute frequency difference itself as the only means for signal separation. Jonathan Hedger and his research team at the听IPAS Precision Measurement Group听 and the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT) in Germany developed an efficient and robust all-fibre Fabry-Perot resonator to achieve this goal. The filter shows 31 dB of suppression of unwanted signals and 76% transmission of the desired signal. The transmission of the filter was stabilised to within 2% of its maximum for over 35 hours through simple temperature stabilisation, making it the most efficient and most stable filter of its kind.听Congratulations听to Jonathan and team.
