Professional Interests
My diverse professional experience encompasses animal physiology, laboratory science, clinical research and corporate health consulting. I am driven by a desire to optimise human health at a population level, by understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms modulated by diet and lifestyle. Following post-doctoral positions at The Robinson Institute investigating peri-conception nutrition and obesity, and the consequences for fertility, pregnancy and the health of offspring, I spent a decade in Germany. There I continued my research examining how paternal obesity influences epigenetic modifications in the embryo and placenta before leaving research for a number of years to pursue a health consulting role and a MSc Psychology. I translated my research skills to provide evidence-based, weight-neutral nutrition and health strategy consulting before relocating back to Adelaide at the end of 2019. Currently I work with Professor Jodie Dodd as Clinical Research Manager for a randomised controlled trial using a mHealth and coaching lifestyle intervention for women before pregnancy.
