  • Biography/ Background

I am a dedicated and accomplished health service researcher with a passion for advancing evidence-based practices in healthcare. In 2013, I successfully completed my PhD, where I delved into the determinants of evidence uptake in allied health. My research explored the transformative impact of a structured journal club on the research utilisation of allied health practitioners. Following the completion of my PhD, I assumed the role of a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of South Australia. In this capacity, I spearheaded the development, implementation, and evaluation of a bespoke clinical performance evaluation framework tailored specifically for allied health practitioners. Concurrently, I conducted numerous systematic reviews, rapid reviews, and health service evaluation projects across diverse local health networks in South Australia. In 2015, I joined JBI as a research fellow in the Implementation Science team. My role involves crafting innovative resources, tools, and strategies to facilitate evidence implementation. I take pride in mentoring clinicians, empowering them to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies for effective research uptake. As a co-convener of the JBI Mixed Methods Systematic Review Methodology group, I contribute significantly to advancing methodologies in mixed methods secondary research.

My expertise extends not only in developing evidence synthesis methodologies and conducting reviews but also in leading evidence implementation initiatives collaboratively with clinicians. I am committed to working with diverse stakeholders, fostering partnerships for improving healthcare quality and safety. My commitment to enhancing healthcare quality extends beyond Australia. I have worked closely with clinicians from China, India and Papua New Guinea to improve their health services. This global perspective enriches my understanding of healthcare challenges, driving me to contribute meaningfully to the improvement of healthcare practices on an international scale.

With a robust clinical background in physiotherapy, a proven track record in research, and a passion for collaborative, evidence-based healthcare, I am dedicated to bridging the gap between research and clinical practice. My work at the intersection of academia and healthcare strives to not only advance the field but also directly impact patient outcomes and the overall quality of healthcare delivery.

  • Research Interests

My research initiatives are anchored in a commitment to improving the quality and safety of healthcare.

A cornerstone of my research endeavours lies in the development of cutting-edge methodologies for mixed methods systematic reviews. My work in this realm aims to push the boundaries of evidence synthesis, offering novel approaches that enrich the understanding of complex healthcare phenomena. By bridging quantitative and qualitative dimensions, these methodologies contribute to a more comprehensive and nuanced view of healthcare interventions.

A significant aspect of my research revolves around understanding facilitation as a pivotal strategy for evidence implementation. I investigate the dynamics of facilitation in the context of evidence uptake, exploring its role in overcoming barriers and catalyzing effective implementation. This line of inquiry seeks to provide actionable insights for clinicians and stakeholders, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in healthcare practices. Central to my research agenda is the utilisation of the JBI Evidence Implementation Framework, synergistically integrated with a diverse array of theories, models, and frameworks. This comprehensive approach allows me to unravel the complexities of evidence implementation, drawing upon the strengths of various conceptual frameworks. I actively engage in research projects aimed at driving tangible enhancements in patient care. This involves collaborating with clinicians, stakeholders, and international partners to implement evidence-based strategies that directly impact healthcare delivery and outcomes.
