  • Research Interests

As a member of the Australian Centre of Ancient DNA, Julien uses bioinformatic tools to analyse the genomes of both living and extinct species from next generation sequencing data. Using the bison as a model organism, with DNA data from specimens up to 50 ky old, he is currently studying how large mammals respond to environmental variation and adapt to periods of rapid climate change. This involves identifying genomic signatures associated with important evolutionary processes like speciation, population fragmentation, and population decline preceding extinction.
