• Biography/ Background

  Jessica Broadbent is a 成人大片 researcher with a background in Clinical Pharmacology (B.Sc. Hons) and Public Health (GDPH). Her early career experience was grounded in conducting and managing Phase I-III clinical drug trials at the University of South Australia School of Pharmacy between 1995 and 2001, during which her interest in disease prevention and epidemiology developed and led to further studies in Public Health.

  She joined the Discipline of General Practice in 2003 as the Primary Health Care, Research Evaluation and Development (PHC RED) co-ordinator which has led to her current research role exploring primary health care issues such as depression and help seeking pathways, respiratory disease and antibiotic use for acute bronchitis and, more recently, cardiovascular disease prevention and health literacy.

  Jessica holds a concurrent position at the Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (since 2002) where she has worked as Editorial Assistant for Climacteric: The Journal of the International Menopause Society (until 2005) while undertaking research in women’s health and hormone therapy use. More recently she is involved in exploring the role of genetic mutations in cerebral palsy causation as a member of the South Australian Cerebral Palsy Research Group (SACPRG).

  • Awareness, perception and knowledge of cardiovascular disease risk and prevention among residents in the north west districts of Adelaide (Funding: Northern Communities Health Foundation)
  • Opportunistic screening for cardiovascular disease risk factors in general practice (Funding: Northern Communities Health Foundation)
  • Increasing cardiovascular risk assessment in first degree relatives of patients with premature IHD: a RCT (Funding: NHMRC)
  • A genomic basis for cerebral palsy - studies on a large Australian cohort (Funding: NHMRC), and other sub-studies associated with this larger project
  • Multi-center, open-label, uncontrolled study to investigate the efficacy and safety of the transdermal contraceptive patch containing 0.55 mg ethinyl estradiol and 2.1 mg gestodene (material no. 80876395) in a 21-day regimen for 13 cycles in 1,650 healthy female subjects (Sponsored Trial: Bayer Healthcare)
