James is passionate about horses. He founded Fleurieu Equine Clinic and provides equine veterinary services to the Fleurieu Peninsula and surrounds.

What are your hobbies? 
Instructing at Pony Club and providing veterinary services at equestrian events.

Favourite place to eat when in Adelaide 
Jasmin Indian Restaurant, Hindmarsh Square.

If I could go back to my University days I would 
Do most of it the same. I spent time with awesome people, learnt lots, and had great experiences. It was hectic, and exhausting, and stressful, but I’m able to appreciate it now.

Most prized possession 
My work truck. It’s the best I’ve seen anywhere in the world for equine work.

I can’t get enough of 
James Bond.

Something that makes you smile 
My little black cat Sabrina.

Something you are grateful for 
My incredible friends.

If I could pursue a different career I would… 
be a stockbroker.

The most valuable lesson I have learned 
Don’t forget to care for yourself (I’m still working on that one).

I cannot get through the day without 
Sleep (honestly, I’m not pleasant without sleep).

Three words your closest friends would use to describe you 
Driven, Loyal, Insane.

Your definition of success 
Financial freedom and someone to care for.

My mother taught me 
To be a gentleman.

Your career path in two sentences or less 
Currently building my own practice. Aiming to teach the next generation from my mistakes.

Biggest career highlight 
President of the Equine Veterinarians Australia (EVA) Young Members Group.

2020 is the year I will 
Find my feet.

How I relax 
R…e…l…a…x… nope never heard of it. The key though is trying to enjoy the moment, or ‘downtime’ doesn’t end up being very relaxing.

When I get home the first thing I do is 
Pat my cat.

The biggest risk I have taken 
Starting my own practice.

A misconception about you 
That I’m gay (still get that a lot). But seriously, it’s probably that I know what on earth I’m doing (hint; I really don’t).

What advice would you give your younger self at uni?
Study anatomy. Aim for 100% (but it’s ok if you don’t get there). I hate to say it, but you really do need to know it all.
