The Roseworthy Veterinary Alumni (RVA) Network aims to nurture the relationship between the ³ÉÈË´óƬ and our veterinary alumni through engagement, mentoring and education. With this in mind, we run CPD sessions annually for our Roseworthy Veterinary alumni as well as for the wider veterinary community, with guest speakers who are experts in their relative fields. T
These sessions are generally hybrid events, and participants can choose whether to attend in person or online! We have had hundreds of people register for these events since they began in 2021.Ìý

Ophthalmic Emergencies for Rural and General Practice Vets (#11)
±Ê°ù±ð²õ±ð²Ô³Ù±ð°ù:ÌýDr Zoe Anastassiadis
Date: Wednesday 25 October 2023Dr Zoe graduated as a veterinarian from the ³ÉÈË´óƬ in 2013. She initially worked in small and mixed animal practice before completing a small animal rotating internship at the University of Queensland in 2017.
Zoe obtained Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Medicine in July 2019. She commenced a Residency in Veterinary Ophthalmology through the ECVO and ANZCVS at Veterinary Ophthalmic Referrals (VOR) in June 2019 and completed the residency in 2022.
This session will take a case-based approach to conditions seen in general practice, covering companion and production species, and what you can do to manage them.

Emergency Intravenous Fluid Therapy (#10)
Presenter: Dr Gerardo Poli, Emergency Veterinarian and Company Director at the Animal Emergency Service (Australia)
Date: Wednesday 12 July 2023Gerardo joined Animal Emergency Service in 2010. He achieved Membership with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in the field of Emergency and Critical Care in 2012 and was head examiner for future Membership candidates for 3 years.
This session will take a deeper look into intravenous fluid therapy for emergency cases including shock therapy.

¶Ù²¹³Ù±ð:ÌýWednesday 10 May 2023Rhonda is passionate about partnering with individuals, teams and organisations to manage change and create positive and sustainable outcomes, which has shaped her practice over the past 30 years.
Rhonda to discuss the signs of grief, as well as practical solutions to better manage it.

Fundamentals of Neurolocalisation and Referral in the Neurosurgical Patient (#8)
Presenter:ÌýDr Dillon Devathasan
Date: Thursday 30 March 2023Dr Dillon is a Neurologist at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH). After graduating from the ³ÉÈË´óƬ, he undertook internships in Queensland and Melbourne before completing a three-year residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery at Purdue University, Indiana.
This session will look at localisation of neurological diseases, common and interesting neurological cases, and cases that require specialist referral.

Opportunities for Rural Vets (#7)
Presenter: Dr Andrew Whale
Date: Thursday 24 November 2022Dr Andrew Whale was born and raised in a small country town in southern NSW has been working as a sheep veterinarian at Livestock Logic in Hamilton, south-western Victoria for 10 years.
Dr Andrew Whale will present an informative session with practical tips of how to get on farm, develop a relationship with farmers, and provide services to rural communities as a veterinarian.

Date: Thursday 4 August 2022Dr Gary Turnbull is a Principal of the Lincoln Institute, which delivers training and coaching to the veterinary profession globally. He is a highly respected speaker and facilitator in veterinary practice management, personal and organisational leadership, and non-technical competency development, and has presented across multiple continents.
Garry will share his 20+ years of clinical practice expertise on how to charge appropriately for your time and stop fearing that money conversation with clients.

How to Handle the Difficult Patient (#5)
Presenter: Dr Emma VermeerenÌý
Date: Wednesday 22 June 2022Dr Emma Vermeeren graduated in 2013 and has worked in general mixed practice, while pursuing her passion – dog training and veterinary behavioural medicine.
Emma now works in her own veterinary behaviour and dog training business, Animal Behaviour Coaching. Emma attained her MANZCVS (Veterinary Behaviour) in 2021.
Emma will be discussing how to handle the difficult patient from a veterinary behaviour perspective.

Date: Thursday 26 May 2022Associate Professor Ryan O’Handley leads the Parasitology section of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and is a founding member of the Parasitic Diseases Research Group (ParaDRG) at the ³ÉÈË´óƬ.
He will be discussing the new and important things in the veterinary parasitology space.
