The Milton Sims Visiting Professor Program (CPD Session) is one of the University's key initiatives and a significant event on the Orthodontic calendar. It is supported by the Paul Kwok Lee Bequest and the Adelaide Orthodontic Alumni Network.听
This year听we welcome Professor Grant McIntyre as the Milton Sims Visiting Professor. Professor McIntyre will deliver the Paul Lee Lecture and will speak on a variety of orthodontic topics at the Milton Sims Visiting Professor Day.
Professor Grant McIntyre
Grant McIntyre is a Consultant / Honorary Professor in Orthodontics at Dundee Dental Hospital and Research School, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Honorary Treasurer for the British Orthodontic Society.
As an academic clinician, Grant aspires to provide patients with high quality evidence-based clinical care, contributes to knowledge creation through orthodontic and craniofacial research, develops the best educational opportunities for students and deliver organisational leadership for clinical services, research and education in the UK and elsewhere in the world. Grant is an active researcher participating in trials, reviews and other investigations; and through supervision of multiple masters and doctorate students over the years, Grant has made a large contribution to over with research collaborations involving Cork, Dublin, UK, China, South Africa and Australia.
Grant has been actively involved in postgraduate training throughout his career and has been a review panel member across the UK training network for many years. As Chair of the UK Specialist Advisory Committee for Orthodontics, Grant led the recent UK specialty training curriculum review for Orthodontics which has now been published by the General Dental Council.
Grant鈥檚 clinical interests are primarily orthodontic care for patients with cleft lip and palate and dentofacial deformity, leading the latter team. Grant is also involved in treating complex malocclusions primarily through supervision of the Orthodontic postgraduate trainees in Dundee.
In addition to being Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and leading the faculty in the UK and across the globe through education, assessment, standards and engagement, Grant is a Fellow of the Faculty of Dental Trainers and a Fellow of the Faculty of Remote, Rural and Humanitarian Health. Grant was awarded a King James IV Professorship for 2024 in relation to his research work.
Grant and his wife, Amanda published a book about their family鈥檚 COVID journey in 2022: 鈥淒ying to Live鈥 which is now on its 3rd print run.
