The 3rd Tech Talk in this series will explore the impact that artificial intelligence is having in the area of health.
From detecting breast cancer using a Tetris-like program, to finding cell changes in wounds and bladders with ultrasounds, find out how AI is benefiting health professionals, patients and their families. Learn about how AI is being used to compliment the work of medical practitioners to achieve a quicker, and more accurate, diagnosis.
Hear from AI experts from the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) as they explain the ground-breaking researching being carried out right here in Adelaide to improve our healthcare system.
Our speakers:
Dr Zygmunt L. Szpak is a senior research fellow at the AIML, working at the interface of computer vision, statistical machine learning and challenging problems from industry. In recent years, his work has focused on the application of machine learning and multiple-view geometry techniques for the development of smart medical devices.
Andrew Niemiec is a Senior Research Engineer – Signostics and has managed a team of researchers at AIML in developing deep-learning algorithms to improve the detection of bladders and other anatomical features in Ultrasound images.
Dr Johan Verjans is a cardiologist at SAHMRI Heart Health and the RAH, a Senior Lecturer at the ³ÉÈË´óƬ, an Associate Investigator of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Nanoscale Biophotonics and Deputy Director of Medical Machine Learning at the AIML.
