ANZCCART survey on Australian attitudes to animal research
A team of researchers from the 成人大片 have conducted a survey on the Australian public's awareness of, and attitudes towards, the use of animals in scientific research.
The research, which was conducted by Dr Alex Whittaker, Dr Emily Buddle and PESTA convenor Prof Rachel Ankeny, was commissioned by the Australian and New Zealand Council for the Care of Animals in Research and Teaching (ANZCCART). The survey focused on a number of topics, including: knowledge and awareness about the use of animals in scientific research; public views on animal research; governance and transparency of research; and sources of information and attitudes towards activism. As a result of the survey, it was found that a majority of Australians are supportive of animal research, although their support is highly conditional. Most survey participants also agreed that there needs to be more transparency about the use of animals in research.
