Levelling up: Derrick McManus
In 1994, then STAR Group officer Derrick McManus was shot 14 times in less than five seconds by a high-risk offender with a semi-automatic rifle.
He lay on the ground bleeding for three hours prior to his rescue. Against all odds, he returned to full duties two and a half years later. In this episode, Derrick, who will facilitate the University’s short course later this year, discusses establishing the Australian Centre for Human Durability and how ‘human durability’ can allow leaders to achieve higher levels of personal and professional success and reduce stress.
