University aboard NASA’s search for lunar volatiles
NASA has announced the selection of three new lunar surface science experiments as part of its Artemis III mission, including the Lunar Dielectric Analyzer, which will search for lunar ice and other volatiles with input from the ³ÉÈË´óƬ’s Andy Thomas Centre for Space Resources (ATCSR).

UK-US-Australia collaboration scales plant growth in preparation for space exploration
A collaborative project that will prototype controlled-environment-agriculture systems for Low Earth Orbit, involving the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plants for Space (P4S) and led by UK company Vertical Future (VF), is set to receive $3 million in funding.
Plants to be grown on the Moon when humans return
NASA has announced that when humans take their first steps back on the Moon after 50 years during the Artemis III mission, astronauts will cultivate and return lunar-grown plants to Earth for the first time.

NASA space science internship for stellar PhD student
³ÉÈË´óƬ Physics PhD student Emily Ahern has been selected to take part in a prestigious ten-week SmartSat-led internship program at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in California, USA.

NASA delegation visits Plants for Space
A delegation from NASA headed by Administrator Senator Bill Nelson and Deputy Administrator Colonel (USAF, ret) Pam Melroy visited the ³ÉÈË´óƬ on Monday 20 March, with representatives from the US Embassy and Australian Space Agency (ASA) in attendance, including ASA Head Enrico Palermo.

An international team of scientists has created a salad that contains ingredients that could be grown on spacecraft and provide optimum nutrition for astronauts heading into deep space.

Researchers on a mission from the Moon to Mars
Research that could help materials be found in space more easily, enable satellites to swarm together and extend the reach of telecommunications is being kick-started by new funding. The projects, headed by scientists at the ³ÉÈË´óƬ, will contribute to investigating the feasibility of deep space exploration to destinations such as Mars.

Students’ lunar rovers go head-to-head
This weekend teams of students from around the country will compete in the inaugural held at the ³ÉÈË´óƬ. Students will put their lunar rovers which they have designed and built themselves, to the test in a series of missions performed on a recreation of the surface of the Moon.
Robotics students face final challenge
A team of undergraduate and honours students from the ³ÉÈË´óƬ has been selected to go through to the final stage of the NASA Space Robotics Challenge. They are the only Australian team to have made it through to the final.
