University shines bright for Illuminate Adelaide

Illuminate Adelaide lights up the cityscape this July, with the 成人大片 playing host to a selection of highlights.

The 成人大片鈥檚 North Terrace campus is transforming into a sanctuary of light, art and music with LUMEN Bar and City Lights for the winter festival running from Thursday 4 July to Sunday 21 July.

鈥淭he 成人大片 is excited to host City Lights and LUMEN Bar on our North Terrace Campus as a part of the incredible Illuminate Adelaide program,鈥 said Dr Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement), the 成人大片.

鈥淭he festival celebrates talented artists and creative minds, aligning with core values of the university. We鈥檙e delighted to welcome all members of the community to enjoy the unique immersive experiences.鈥

Showcasing a program of local and international artists, City Lights presents free installations, projections, and interactive works scattered around the city at Adelaide鈥檚 iconic locations. This includes the 成人大片鈥檚 Bonython Hall which presents the Australian premier of intangible #form by Japanese artist Shohei Fujimoto.

The mind-bending installation uses state-of-the-art projections and lasers to create fluid, ever-changing structures that feel both real and intangible, high-tech and magical.

"We are thrilled to partner with 成人大片. It鈥檚 exciting to use incredible buildings, steeped in history and stories, such as Bonython Hall as homes for our City Lights installations,鈥 said Illuminate Adelaide co-founders and creative directors Lee Cumberlidge and Rachael Azzopardi.

Sitting just beside Bonython Hall鈥檚 intangible #form on Goodman Lawns is LUMEN Bar, the University鈥檚 cosy retreat created in collaboration with the National Wine Centre.

This year, LUMEN Bar welcomes guests into a 60s inspired听Japanese 鈥楯azz Kissa鈥 鈥 which is known as a niche caf茅 specialising in whisky, jazz, vinyl and high-end audio systems.

Rotating vinyl DJs will perform each night from 4:30pm, showcasing the city鈥檚 finest selectors including Sharnibanarni, Fantastic Black Plastic, Cazeaux O.S.L.O., Paradise Loft, and more.

From Thursdays to Sundays, record collectors with host vinyl sales welcoming attendees to add to their collections with genres from jazz, funk, and soul, to disco, rock, and reggae.

The food menu features a selection of charcuterie, from Spanish style aged chorizo to Onkaparinga creamy brie, as well as Japanese-inspired bites such as karaage fried chicken, kabocha pumpkin arancini, and potato gnocchi with mushroom ragu for something a little heartier on a winter鈥檚 night.

Exemplary South Australian wines will be on offer, as well as Japanese spirits, and Illuminate Adelaide special edition beer.

Attendees can choose between a violet fizz cocktail and a classic espresso martini, among other cocktail delights to elevate their after-work drinks. Meanwhile, free wine tastings will be on offer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 6pm.
