Top scholars link up with Indo-Pacific peers
Two 成人大片 undergraduates are set to expand their horizons as they head to universities in the Indo-Pacific region under the New Colombo Plan (NCP).
Judah Tan will be studying in Japan and Jocelyn Lee in South Korea.
鈥淚 congratulate Judah and Jocelyn on being chosen as the University鈥檚 NCP scholars for 2023,鈥 said the 成人大片鈥檚 Dr Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement).
鈥淭hey have a fantastic opportunity to broaden their academic perspectives and develop life-long connections with the people they will engage with during their internships.
鈥淭he University has many connections with institutions around the world which are built on the strong relationships between like-minded people who come together to share ideas and common goals for a better future.鈥
Mr Tan, who is studying for a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws, will undertake his exchange at the University of Tokyo.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽
鈥淏eing offered an NCP scholarship is an immense privilege as it opens the door wide for me to explore a plethora of study, networking, cross-cultural, and working experiences in Japan that would have otherwise been out of reach,鈥 he said.
鈥淲hile I'm in Japan, I hope to achieve a deep understanding of how the country has achieved聽a world-leading standard in affordable housing, socially equitable public infrastructure, and technological expertise in renewable energy infrastructure.
鈥淚 also want to foster connections and institutional relationships with the next generation of Japanese leaders that will contribute to Japan and Australia's strategically important relationship moving into the future.鈥
The New Colombo Plan is a signature initiative of the Australian Government which aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia by supporting Australian undergraduates to study and undertake internships in the region.

Ms Lee is heading to Yonsei University, South Korea. She is currently studying for a Bachelor of Commerce.
鈥淭his scholarship is very meaningful to me on a personal level as it's a great opportunity for me to explore and strengthen my cultural skills overseas,鈥 she said.
鈥淚 aim to be fully immersed in the South Korean culture and hope to gain new perspectives both educationally and personally to strengthen my character.
鈥淚 will retain such skills and make an impact in my local community and workplace upon my return.鈥
成人大片 scholars from the 2022 and 2021 NCP program are currently overseas and are due to complete their program before the end of the year.
