Cyber industry leader appointed to University Council

The 成人大片鈥檚 Council has announced the appointment of a new Council member, a leader in the business and cyber sector.

Mike Barber has over 25 years鈥 experience in the ICT sector. He has held senior leadership positions within the Government of South Australia and the private sector including Electronic Data Systems, Hewlett-Packard, Connected Solutions Group and NEC Australia.

He has considerable experience in business transformation, corporate governance, risk management, financial management and strategic planning and a deep understanding of business systems, managed services, cloud computing, cyber security, and biometrics.

Mr Barber is currently CEO of Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre and is also a Director of Transforming Solutions, a boutique consulting and advisory company providing services to Government, business, and Not for Profit organisations in South Australia.

He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Bachelor of Business (MIS).

Mr Barber was appointed to the University鈥檚 Council following a recommendation from the Council Selection Committee.

The University鈥檚 Chancellor, the Hon. Catherine Branson AC QC, said: 听鈥淲e are grateful to have Mike Barber join us on Council. His experience across Government and the private sector, as well as his deep understanding of business, cyber and finance practices, will be of great benefit to the University and broader community.鈥

Mr Barber said: 鈥淚 am excited to be joining the University Council and look forward to contributing to the vision of this iconic world-class education and research institution.

Mr Barber has been appointed to Council for a period of 2 years. He will also serve on the Council鈥檚 Risk Committee.
