Students can now apply for Year 11 entry for 2022

Campus

Year 12 students in South Australia, Northern Territory and some interstate border schools can now apply for the Year 11 Entry Pathway at the 成人大片 for university study in 2022.

The pathway offers current Year 12 students who meet the eligibility criteria added peace of mind by giving them the opportunity to enter one of the University鈥檚 many undergraduate degrees based on their Year 11 results.

鈥淭hrough this pathway, we鈥檝e enabled students to pursue a world-class education no matter how disrupted their school studies and home lives have been by these challenging times,"Professor Jennie Shaw, Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)

鈥淚n response to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 成人大片 introduced this alternative pathway for entry into the University in 2021 and 2022,鈥 says Professor Jennie Shaw, Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). There has not been a decision to extend this COVID-measure beyond the 2022 intake.

鈥淭hrough this pathway, we鈥檝e enabled students to pursue a world-class education no matter how disrupted their school studies and home lives have been by these challenging times.

鈥淚t鈥檚 important that we reassure and support students, providing them with a level of certainty that their future prospects will not be unfairly affected by the range of impacts of the pandemic on our community.

鈥淲e鈥檙e pleased that our Year 11 Entry Pathway has been widely supported by schools, parents and communities, particularly those in lower socio-economic areas.鈥

Professor Shaw says that even if they do apply through the Year 11 Entry Pathway, current Year 12 students 鈥渟houldn鈥檛 take their foot off the pedal鈥.

鈥淭he pathway is there to provide support and assurance, but the traditional selection rank and subject-based entry pathways are still available, so it's definitely in every student鈥檚 best interest to continue giving Year 12 studies their full effort.

鈥淚mportantly, we found from this year鈥檚 intake that the majority of students using Year 11 entry would have gained entry via their Year 12 results.

鈥淭he University has also committed to tracking the progress of these students during the course of the year, to determine whether they require further academic support and to provide it where needed,鈥 Professor Shaw says.

Eligibility and applications

To be eligible, students must still successfully complete an Australian Year 12 qualification (such as SACE, HSC, VCE, NCTE or IB) and any applicable subject prerequisites. Students will also need to have achieved A or B grades in their top four subjects in Year 11 to be considered for entry.

Students wishing to apply for this entry pathway must submit their personal details via the University鈥檚 online portal: ua.edu.au/yr11-entry-pathway before 5pm Tuesday 24 August 2021.

They will also need to lodge their SATAC application 鈥 with an eligible 成人大片 degree as their first preference 鈥 by 5pm Tuesday 24 August 2021.聽SATAC Applications open early August.聽.

For the 2022 intake, the Year 11 Entry Pathway will be available to students at all South Australian schools, as well as to students at all schools in the Northern Territory, 13 regional schools in border communities in Victoria, and three schools in border communities in New South Wales.

A number of degree programs are excluded from the pathway.
